HYDERABAD: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has reiterated the Centre’s commitment to Telangana’s development, stating that the government is prepared to collaborate with the state to improve infrastructure, particularly national highways. Speaking at a foundation stone-laying ceremony near the Maharashtra border, he announced the construction of 95 kilometres of four-lane roads at a cost of ₹3,526 crore.
Referring to Adilabad, Sanjay remarked that the district had long been associated with underdevelopment, but road infrastructure had significantly improved under BJP governance. He noted that before Telangana’s formation, the state had only 2,500 km of national highways, a figure that has since more than doubled to 5,100 km.
He also highlighted that the Centre has allocated ₹1.2 lakh crore for national highways across the country and ₹12 lakh crore for various developmental initiatives in Telangana. Emphasising cooperative federalism, Sanjay said national progress depends on the inclusive development of every state.
Commenting on the poor condition of the Hyderabad–Karimnagar route, Sanjay said the Centre is ready to declare Rajiv Rahadari a national highway. However, he noted that pending issues related to the original contractor must first be resolved. He added that Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari is known for his responsiveness, stating that “whatever is asked of him, he delivers.”
In a lighter moment, Sanjay described Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as an honest and outspoken figure, calling him a “straight-talking man who keeps nothing in his heart.”
