HYDERABAD, January 31: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has called upon the Telangana state government to continue the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme during the ongoing MLC election code period. Speaking to the media today, he emphasized that the scheme commenced on January 26, prior to the implementation of the election code, and is an ongoing initiative. He urged the government not to deprive farmers of this support, noting that the current elections are limited to graduates and teachers.
Sanjay alleged that the government has already withheld a year’s worth of ‘Rythu Bharosa’ funds. He also demanded the issuance of new ration cards to all eligible individuals across the state, suggesting that beneficiary selection should consider entire households. If the election code poses an issue for fund disbursement, he expressed the BJP’s readiness to write to the Election Commission. He called for an all-party meeting to collectively appeal to the Commission on this matter.
Furthermore, Sanjay criticized the limited distribution of ‘Rythu Bharosa’, ‘Indiramma Aathmiya Bharosa’, ‘Indiramma Houses’, and new ration cards, stating that it is inappropriate not to provide these benefits to all eligible individuals. He questioned the selection of only 561 villages out of 12,991 gram panchayats in the state, allocating one village per mandal, and expressed surprise that out of 7 million eligible farmers, funds have been credited to only 6.5 million.
He also highlighted that among 1 million agricultural laborers, 980,000 have not received funds.
