Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay visited the historic Lal Darwaza temple on Sunday as part of the Bonalu festivities, offering silk robes to the deity and performing special prayers.
Addressing the media after the visit, Sanjay called for collective efforts to protect Hindu dharma and criticised the current state of temple funding in Telangana. He said it was shameful that temple organisers were forced to beg for funds during major Hindu festivals.
He pledged that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, temples would be built in every lane of the Old City.
Meanwhile, Bonalu celebrations unfolded with fervour across Greater Hyderabad, with large crowds thronging temples due to the Sunday holiday.
