HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay has warned that Telangana could soon witness a situation similar to that of West Bengal due to state-wide protests allegedly backed by the government against the Waqf Amendment Bill. He said that if the protests spiralled out of control, they could lead to serious law and order issues.
Addressing the media at the BJP office, Bandi Sanjay expressed concern over the ongoing demonstrations and claimed they were being encouraged under government patronage.
He also sharply criticised the Congress for its protest over the National Herald case, calling it “pointless” and claiming it had yielded no results. The Union Minister alleged that Sonia Gandhi had attempted to embezzle nearly ₹2,000 crore of public money.
Bandi Sanjay clarified that the National Herald case did not originate under BJP rule, but was initiated back in 2011 during the UPA government’s tenure. He noted that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were granted bail in the case at that time.
