Road caves in at Banjara Hills, water tanker crashes into sinkhole

Hyderabad: A water tanker fell into a sinkhole after a section of the road suddenly caved in near Road No. 1/12 in Banjara Hills on Tuesday, leaving two injured and disrupting traffic.

The incident occurred as the tanker was passing over the weakened stretch, which collapsed without warning. The driver and cleaner sustained serious injuries in the crash and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital by GHMC personnel and police.

Officials said the collapse was caused by recent heavy rainfall that compromised the road structure. A nala pipeline was found running beneath the affected area.

Traffic snarls built up rapidly in the surrounding zones as police worked to extract the stuck vehicle and manage diversions. GHMC teams quickly cordoned off the area and got to work assessing the damage and figuring out what repairs were needed.
