Hyderabad: A major electronics theft near Medarametla in Bapatla district shocked business circles when robbers stole 255 laptops worth ₹1.85 crore from a moving truck.
Police said the consignment belonged to a private firm and was being transported from Mumbai to Chennai in four containers. The robbers intercepted one truck on Saturday night. The theft came to light when the container alarm stopped working near Chinnakottapalli in Addanki mandal.
Company officials rushed to the spot after receiving the alert and found the driver and cleaner missing. They filed a complaint at the Medarametla police station on Sunday.
Special teams pursue suspects in the Bapatla laptop theft
Chirala DSP Moin said police had formed special teams to trace the suspects and recover the stolen laptops. Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Company officials confirmed the stolen goods were worth about ₹1.85 crore.
