Hyderabad: Makthal town witnessed vibrant Bathukamma festivities on Monday evening at the Padamati Anjaneya Swamy Ramleela grounds. The celebrations began at 5 p.m. despite heavy rain.
Minister V. Srinivas Goud and his wife Lalitamma joined the women in the festival. The couple danced together to folk songs, encouraging participants to celebrate with enthusiasm. Their presence in their hometown added a special note to the event.
Earlier, municipal officials brought Bathukammas to the venue, and the minister’s wife also prepared one at home and carried it to the ground. Padamati Anjaneya temple priest Pranesh Chari performed the traditional rituals before the programme commenced.

Heavy rain did not deter women from taking part. They sang and danced in the open, while the minister and his wife joined them in the folk celebrations. The spirited participation of both men and women turned the Bathukamma event into a lively display of Telangana’s cultural heritage.
