HYDERABAD: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has stated that the recent resolution passed in the Assembly to provide 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) following the BC Caste Census is a landmark initiative and serves as a model for the entire country.

Speaking during his visit to Mancherial district, where he laid the foundation for several development projects, Vikramarka said the state government is committed to the welfare of all communities, and the recent decision in favour of BCs stands as a strong testament to social justice.

He asserted that the resolution passed in the Assembly reinforces Telangana’s lead in ensuring equal opportunities for BCs. He further remarked that the BC Caste Census will turn Telangana into a “role model” for the nation in promoting inclusive governance.

Taking aim at opposition parties, he accused the BRS and BJP of launching malicious propaganda against the current administration. He claimed that it was the BRS government which had plunged the state into financial mismanagement during its tenure. According to him, the people of Telangana have rejected such feudal-style governance.

Highlighting ongoing development in Mancherial, the Deputy Chief Minister said construction of a retaining wall is underway, the foundation has been laid for a Mother and Child healthcare centre, and the “Young India Residential Schools” initiative has been launched. He added that diet charges in these schools have been increased to ensure better nutrition for students.

Vikramarka also noted that the government has provided 56,000 jobs in just one year, marking a significant step forward in employment generation. Drawing parallels to the former Indira Amma Raj scheme, he stated that the government is now supplying rice at subsidised rates to poor families.

He affirmed that the government’s policy is to generate wealth and ensure its equitable distribution, enabling marginalised communities to share in the benefits of development. The BC Caste Census and quota-based initiatives, he said, will serve not only Telangana but the entire nation as a guiding framework for social justice.
