Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay alleged that the Congress party’s Kamareddy Declaration was not meant for Backward Classes (BCs), but was instead a “Muslim declaration in disguise.” He accused Congress of using BC reservation demands to justify religious minority quotas.
Protest at Jantar Mantar Sparks Sharp Reaction
As Congress leaders protested at Jantar Mantar demanding 42% BC reservations, Sanjay accused them of masking an attempt to expand benefits to Muslims. He claimed the real goal of the protest was not BC welfare, but securing quotas for Muslims through a misleading bill.
According to Sanjay, only 32% of the proposed 42% quota would go to BCs, while 10% would benefit Muslims. He argued that the BJP-led Modi government already provides 27% reservation to BCs. The Congress bill, he said, adds just 5% more but hides its real intent.
“They want to turn Hindus into minorities by offering 100% reservation to Muslims,” he said. He alleged that the protest lacked genuine support from BC communities.
Sanjay challenged Congress to publicly commit that the entire 42% quota would benefit BCs. He demanded a public debate comparing each party’s contribution to BC welfare. “In 50 years of Congress rule, did even one BC become Prime Minister?” he asked.
He further criticised Congress for never appointing a BC Chief Minister during its 48-year rule in united Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that the BJP had elevated a BC leader to the Prime Minister’s post.
He urged Congress leaders to list how many BCs they had appointed to cabinet or nominated posts. Sanjay predicted that Congress would decline in Telangana just as it had in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar. He claimed the party was using BC reservation as a political weapon against the Centre.
