Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday described the BJP as an anti-BC party, criticising its decision to appoint N. Ramchandra Rao as Telangana State president.
Posting on social media platform X, Prabhakar alleged that several senior backward-class leaders, including three sitting MPs, were fully qualified to lead the state unit but were sidelined. He accused the BJP leadership of repeatedly ignoring BC voices despite making public promises to do justice for the community.
He pointed out that the party had earlier promised to name a BC leader as its legislative floor leader, but did not honour it. According to him, one BC leader even attempted to file nomination papers for the state president post but was prevented from doing so.
Prabhakar claimed BC leaders within the BJP were frustrated with such treatment and had started exposing what he described as injustices inside the party. He said the appointment of an upper-caste leader showed the BJP’s bias against backward classes.
