Hyderabad: To mark the birthday of BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao, benches and bicycles were donated to students at St Philomena’s High School in Bhoiguda on Wednesday.
Former Food Corporation chairman Rajiv Sagar contributed 100 benches as part of a social service initiative, while 20 bicycles were distributed to top-performing students from classes VI to X.
The donations were made under the Gift a Smile campaign. Former Rajya Sabha MP Joginipally Santosh Kumar and Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav handed over the items during a ceremony held on the school premises.
Speaking at the event, Talasani said it was meaningful to celebrate the birthday of a leader like KTR known for his work for the poor and youth among schoolchildren. Joginipally praised the initiative for directly benefiting students and encouraging academic excellence.
The program concluded with special prayers by local pastors and a cake-cutting ceremony. School staff, Christian community leaders, and former BC Commission members were also present.
