Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday directed officials to fully tap into the training and infrastructure capabilities of the Dr. MCR HRD Institute, urging the state-run body to evolve into the country’s premier public administration institute.
Chairing a meeting of the Governing Body Sub-Committee, Bhatti said the 30-acre institute, led by former Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, must aim for financial self-reliance and rapid institutional growth. He stressed that all ministerial suggestions tabled during the meeting should be promptly implemented.
He also outlined the state’s ambition to become the first in India to integrate Artificial Intelligence across all tiers of governance, from senior bureaucrats to village-level officials. Comprehensive AI training, he said, would be key to meeting this target.
Minister for Planning and IT D. Sridhar Babu proposed issuing certificates for AI training and recommended specialised training for college principals to secure NAAC accreditation, which would improve eligibility for central funding.

He also pitched district-level workshops for SHG leaders to boost financial literacy and empowerment.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said institute staff must be ready to collaborate with global bodies such as the United Nations.
Director General Shanti Kumari briefed the committee on the institute’s capacity, training footprint, MoUs signed with other states, and plans to upgrade training methods.
She outlined the institute’s history, including its library, auditorium, hostels, and budgetary allocations. The Sub-Committee will meet every six months to monitor progress.
