CM Revanth expresses solidarity over the phone
During the visit, Bhatti Vikramarka consoled the officer’s wife, Amneet, father Vijay Kumar, and mother Susheela. He also interacted with other family members, offering emotional support. Later, he connected Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with them through a phone call. The Chief Minister expressed his grief, assured assistance from the Telangana government, and promised to stand by the family.
Moreover, Bhatti said it was unacceptable that an Additional DGP-rank Dalit officer suffered such humiliation. “If justice is denied to an officer of this stature, what will ordinary citizens face?” he asked. He further urged Haryana authorities to act without delay and ensure accountability.
Bhatti questions Haryana officials
In addition, Bhatti revealed that he had questioned Haryana Chief Secretary Rajesh Prasad regarding the lack of justice in the case. He insisted on a transparent inquiry and strict punishment for those found responsible. AICC leader Koppula Raju and Constitution Committee chairman Dr Vinay accompanied him during the visit.
Meanwhile, the Congress delegation assured the family that the party would support them until justice was served. The Bhattis’ visit to IPS Puran’s family in Chandigarh has highlighted the growing demand for institutional reforms and social equality in administrative systems.
Bhatti condemns caste bias in administration
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Bhatti described Puran Kumar’s death as a tragic consequence of systemic bias. “Even after 78 years of Independence, caste-based prejudice continues within top administrative circles,” he said.
He called upon the Haryana government to take immediate action and punish those responsible. Furthermore, Bhatti stated that the incident exposed persistent inequalities within public institutions under the BJP regime and urged deep structural reforms to protect marginalised officers.
Deeply saddened by the tragic death of senior IPS officer Puran Kumar, a Hyderabad native, who ended his life in Chandigarh after facing caste-based discrimination, humiliation, and mental harassment from senior officials, including the Haryana DGP.
