Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has directed officials to intensify efforts to increase non-tax revenue and balance expenditure across departments to support the state’s development goals.
Chairing the Infrastructure and Capital Sub-Committee meeting on Sunday at the Secretariat, Bhatti was joined by Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The Deputy CM underscored the need for tapping central funds and streamlining financial priorities amid continued implementation of new welfare schemes worth ₹33,600 crore.
He cited revenue losses from the Outer Ring Road and Excise sources in the 2023–24 financial year as reasons for the renewed push on non-tax income.
Bhatti criticised uneven budget distribution, saying some departments were overfunded while others were under-resourced. He instructed officials to align allocations with development needs and to expedite major pending projects across constituencies.
Revenue-generating departments should receive priority, he said, adding that budget expenditure must be based strictly on necessity. He stressed the urgency of completing works under nationalisation and clearing spillover projects.
Officials were given a ten-day deadline to finalise the nationalisation process and draft a clear implementation plan.
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, and other top officials attended the meeting.
