Khammam: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Wednesday launched a series of development works at the historic Sri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Edavalli village, Mudigonda mandal, pledging a government grant of ₹4.75 crore for its expansion.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the temple’s rajagopuram, mukha mandapam and rest house, Vikramarka said, “The early arrival of monsoon winds is nothing but a divine gesture blessing a government committed to public service.” He invoked the deity’s blessings for continued prosperity and good harvests across the state.
He emphasised that the Congress-led government was pressing ahead with strategic investments to ensure all-round growth. “Our focus is on creating wealth and distributing it equitably among people,” he noted.
Vikramarka listed several welfare schemes launched by the state, including the revival of Rajiv Vikas and Indira Soura Giri water projects, supply of fine rice, construction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma homes, ₹22,000 crore farm loan waiver, and annual financial support of ₹12,000 to agricultural labourers under Indiramma Aathmiyya Bharosa.
Farmers are also being given ₹12,000 per acre for crop investment under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Other major schemes include free RTC bus travel for women, LPG cylinders at ₹500, up to 200 units of free electricity under Gruha Jyothi, and zero-interest loans aimed at turning one crore women into millionaires with ₹1 lakh crore in funding.
Vikramarka also announced that the Aarogyasri health insurance cover would be enhanced from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
“This government is blessed,” he said, attributing the timely rains and growing public support to divine favour. “It’s no coincidence that Varuna Devudu arrives early when the government is doing good for its people.”
Reflecting on his personal journey, he recalled launching his election campaign by seeking blessings at the same temple. “With the grace of Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and support from the people of Madhira, I was elected to the Assembly, and the party entrusted me with the role of Deputy CM,” he said.
He credited the Edavalli temple’s development grant to the people’s continued faith and collective effort. “This is your achievement,” he told the gathered devotees, adding that special prayers had been held for the timely completion of the temple works.
