Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday paid his last respects to CPI leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy at Mukdum Bhavan in Himayath Nagar. He praised Reddy for living a life rooted in values and political integrity.
Bhatti noted that Reddy stayed loyal to his ideals from his student days in AISF to his role as CPI national general secretary, a post he held three times. “This kind of political journey comes only with deep commitment and discipline,” he said.
He also recalled Reddy’s efforts to bring social change early in life. Despite being in the opposition, Reddy often held meaningful discussions with ruling party leaders to push welfare policies. Bhatti highlighted the 2004 electricity agitation, where Reddy worked alongside the Congress. “Many Congress welfare schemes were influenced by his vision,” he said.
Bhatti admired Reddy’s respectful political conduct. “He never used harsh words or treated rivals as enemies,” he said. This earned him respect across party lines.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the entire Cabinet decided to conduct Reddy’s last rites with full official honours. Bhatti assured the family that the state government would fully support them during this time.
