Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday revealed an ambitious blueprint to expand Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) operations globally.
Speaking after inaugurating the new General Manager’s office and workshop at Kothagudem in Khammam district, Vikramarka said the state government had roped in industry experts to gather crucial data and recommendations to chart the company’s overseas journey.
“Once the expert committee submits its report, we’ll finalise an action plan to scale up operations,” he said, highlighting that Singareni’s century-long expertise in technical and mineral extraction was ripe for exploration on a larger stage.
He added that several new mines are projected to produce an estimated 22 million tonnes of coal over the next three decades, bolstering the company’s capacity and reach.
Worker welfare, he stressed, remains at the heart of the government’s plans. “Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of Singareni workers, while business comes second,” Vikramarka asserted.
He pointed out that the government has set a new benchmark in worker protection by offering accident insurance of Rs. 1 crore, along with compassionate appointments to families in case of a fatality on duty.
“This initiative is unprecedented in the country,” he added.
