HYDERABAD: A suspected bird flu outbreak has led to the death of approximately 7,000 chickens at a poultry farm in Cherukupally village, Kethepally mandal, Nalgonda district. The incident has raised concerns among local residents and authorities.
According to the affected poultry farmer, out of 13,000 chickens, nearly 7,000 succumbed to the infection. In an effort to prevent the further spread of the virus, the farmer used a JCB machine to dig a large pit and bury the deceased birds. The financial loss is estimated to be over ₹4 lakh, prompting the farmer to appeal to the government for assistance.
Telangana Govt Issues Alert, Intensifies Monitoring
Following the outbreak, the Telangana government has issued an alert and stepped up monitoring measures across the state. Food safety officials are conducting inspections to ensure the quality of poultry products being sold.
Authorities have warned that vendors selling substandard or spoiled chicken will face strict actions, including penalties. The government continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent further escalation of the outbreak.
