Hyderabad: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) concluded a three-day capsule course on the National Building Code of India (NBC) 2016 – Structural Design at its Hyderabad branch office on Friday. The programme ran from August 28 to 30 in coordination with the Civil Engineering department.
The course aimed to improve professional understanding of NBC 2016, which lays down essential provisions for structural safety, sustainability, and quality in construction. A total of 36 delegates from industry, PSUs, academia, and consultancy firms attended the sessions. BIS stressed that stakeholders in building planning, design, construction, and maintenance must be fully aware of the code’s provisions for effective implementation.

The sessions featured eminent speakers, including PV Srikanth, Director and Head of BIS Hyderabad; Aman Deep, Managing Director of Creative Design Consultants; Dr. Padmaja Gokaraju of Kirby Building Systems; and experts from L&T, ICFRE, and Geo Dynamics Engineers. Topics covered concrete technology, prefabricated structures, timber applications, steel design, and soil and foundation engineering.
The programme concluded with certificate distribution. Delegates appreciated the training for its blend of technical depth, case studies, and practical applications.
