BJP leader Aletti Maheshwar Reddy slams Telangana governor’s address, calls it disappointing

HYDERABAD: BJP leader Aletti Maheshwar Reddy has strongly criticized the Telangana Governor’s address, stating that it has left people disappointed by omitting critical discussions on governance, financial management, and Congress’ unfulfilled guarantees.

Reddy alleged that the speech avoided key issues and lacked any mention of real development in the state. He questioned the Congress government’s claims of progress, asking Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to specify which sectors had actually advanced. He remarked that Telangana’s so-called progress was limited to words, while in reality, the state had only seen an increase in debt.

The BJP leader pointed out that the government had borrowed ₹1.52 lakh crore within just one year, accusing it of financial mismanagement. He criticized the administration for failing to fulfill its promises, arguing that there was no clear direction in governance.

Reddy also compared Telangana with Andhra Pradesh, noting that the neighboring state had successfully increased social pensions despite financial challenges. He expressed disappointment that Telangana had not yet made a decision on pension hikes, despite repeated demands. He revealed that he had even written to the Chief Minister on this issue, but no action was taken.

He accused the Congress of coming to power through false promises, recalling that they had assured voters of implementing guarantees within 100 days. However, the delay in pension revisions indicated the government’s lack of commitment to the welfare of the poor and underprivileged.

Reddy further criticized the government’s demolition of houses, alleging that while homes of the poor were ruthlessly destroyed, influential individuals were left untouched. He also claimed that the government’s Musi River cleaning project was merely an excuse for political vendettas rather than genuine development.
