Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday slammed the Congress Delhi protest as a complete failure and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of admitting defeat on the 42% BC reservation issue.
Speaking at a party meeting in Bhongir, Rao ridiculed Revanth’s remarks that BC reservations would be implemented only after Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. “Will Rahul Gandhi ever become PM?” he asked, as party workers shouted “No!” in response.
Rao said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi skipped the Delhi protest because they knew it would flop. He alleged that the event was not about BC rights but aimed at misleading the community with minority appeasement.
He asserted that BJP would ensure a full 42% reservation exclusively for BCs if voted to power in Telangana. “Only BJP has delivered for BCs,” he claimed, citing Narendra Modi’s rise as the first BC Prime Minister, the granting of constitutional status to the BC Commission, and the presence of 27 BC ministers in the Union Cabinet.
Rao also criticised the Congress government for neglecting the Musi river issue. “Revanth promised to clean the river during his Yadadri temple visit, but he forgot as Congress always forgets its promises,” he said.
He thanked party workers for the large turnout and said the enthusiastic response pointed to BJP’s rise in the upcoming local body elections. Rao arrived in Bhongir after a three-hour bike rally from Yadagirigutta, joined by over 500 party workers, including women.
