Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchandra Rao has issued a legal notice to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, alleging defamatory remarks made in connection with the Rohith Vemula suicide case.
The legal notice was prompted by Vikramarka’s comments during a media interaction in Delhi, where he accused the BJP of promoting individuals involved in the suicide case and asserted that the party lacked respect for Dalits and Adivasis.
Rao, terming the comments baseless and defamatory, demanded an immediate public retraction and apology from Vikramarka. He contended that the judiciary had already concluded the matter, absolving all accused, and that raising such allegations now amounted to misleading the public and maligning reputations.
He further accused the Congress of exploiting the Dalit issue for political gain, and warned that if Vikramarka failed to comply with the demands outlined in the legal notice, he would pursue formal legal action.
