Hyderabad: The BJP on Thursday held a GST awareness meeting at JKR Gardens in Medak district. Medak MP Raghunandan Rao attended as the chief guest and addressed party workers and traders.
Raghunandan Rao said weak leadership had destabilised many world economies. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with raising the income tax exemption limit to ₹12 lakh. He added that the government remained committed to public welfare. According to him, during Modi’s 11 years in office, nearly 25 crore people moved above the poverty line. “That is the true meaning of Antyodaya,” he said.
GST reforms will benefit low-income and middle-class families, says BJP
The MP explained that the Centre’s decision to reduce GST slabs would directly benefit low-income and middle-class households. Each family, he noted, could save around ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 every year. He added that the decision to lower GST on Indiramma housing would save nearly ₹15,000 for a low-income family building a house.
He also attacked the Congress party, recalling remarks by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. Rao said Modi had washed away the failures of the past eight years. “India’s silence is often the strongest answer to the world,” he remarked. He added that Modi had defended the country even on global platforms, including during his meetings with Donald Trump.
Call for self-reliance
Rao urged shopkeepers to display boards promoting Indian-made goods. “Foreign products destroy our traditional caste-based occupations. Selling swadeshi items is the only way to protect livelihoods,” he said.
Several BJP leaders attended the meeting. They included Medak district president Valdas Mallesh Goud, former district president Gaddam Srinivas, district general secretary Ranjith Reddy, assembly convenor Madhu, district secretary Kalki Nagaraju, town president Nayini Prasad, BJYM district president Satish, mandal president Bend Veena, and cultural leaders.
