Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of showing no respect for the Indian Constitution or the Supreme Court. He also questioned the party’s “hypocritical patriotism” over its engagement with Pakistan.
Rao’s statement came in response to recent political developments and security concerns. Referring to the Pahalgam massacre, he said the BJP was playing cricket diplomacy with Pakistan even as innocent civilians lost their lives to terrorism.
“The BJP talks nationalism but acts otherwise,” he said. “Engaging with Pakistan after such attacks shows where their real priorities lie.”
He further alleged that the ruling party consistently undermines democratic institutions, including the judiciary, and disregards constitutional values whenever they are politically inconvenient.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions, with opposition parties accusing the BJP of misusing state mechanisms and weakening constitutional checks and balances.
Rao reiterated that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would continue to raise its voice against what he described as the BJP’s double standards and authoritarian approach.
