Hyderabad: BJP corporators and workers gathered outside the Telangana Secretariat on Thursday, demanding action on civic failures and recent electrocution deaths in GHMC areas.
The protest, branded ‘Save Hyderabad’, began after party leaders gave a call to march to the Secretariat. Police responded by placing key BJP leaders, corporators, and activists under house arrest before dawn. Still, some managed to reach the gates, triggering a tense standoff.
Protesters tried to enter the main gate, but police blocked them. Scuffles broke out as BJP members pushed against the barricades. Officers detained several corporators and moved them to nearby police stations.
Party leaders blamed the state for poor governance. They said faulty electric lines and civic neglect had cost lives. They demanded a direct response from the government and immediate corrective steps.
