Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao said the issue of MLA Raja Singh falls under the purview of the party’s national leadership and not his state unit.
Speaking on the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat, Rao said the party was taking it seriously due to growing competition for the ticket and its location within Union Minister Kishan Reddy’s parliamentary constituency. He claimed voter sentiment in the area was shifting in the BJP’s favour.
Criticising the Congress government, Rao accused the Revanth Reddy administration of using HYDRAA to demolish poor families’ homes. “Now they’ve moved on to temples,” he said, warning that razing homes would lead to the collapse of the state government itself.
He questioned why the Congress had shown “humanitarian concern” for Fatima College but not for the homes of the poor.
Rao confirmed the BJP would contest alone in Telangana, ruling out any alliance. He said he was unsure whether the Telugu Desam Party would enter the fray.
Forming the state committee was his immediate priority, Rao said, outlining a structure of 18 office bearers including 8 vice-presidents, 7 secretaries, and 3 general secretaries. The full list will be finalised in a week after consultations with senior leaders.
He urged party workers to avoid lobbying for positions and focus on public outreach.
