Hyderabad: With the Jubilee Hills by-election nearing, the BJP has entered the final stage of its candidate selection. A three-member screening committee submitted its report to Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao, naming top contenders for the ticket.
The panel includes former MLA M. Dharma Rao, ex-MP Pothuganti Ramulu, and senior leader Komala Anjaneyulu. After holding detailed consultations with party cadres and leaders, they delivered the feedback directly to the party chief.
Party insiders confirmed that Juturu Keerthy Reddy, Veerapaneni Padma, and Lankala Deepak Reddy are leading the race. Among them, Deepak Reddy, who contested the same seat in 2023, is considered the frontrunner. A close aide to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, he currently serves as BJP’s Central District President.
Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) appears to be opting out. Although earlier speculation pointed to a possible entry, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reportedly chose to stay away after meeting Telangana TDP leaders in Vijayawada. Even so, some believe Nandamuri Suhasini could still enter the fray if plans shift, given TDP’s support among settler voters in the constituency.
With the BJP expected to announce its candidate soon, the Jubilee Hills by-election remains a high-stakes contest for all key political players in the State.
