Hyderabad: Telangana BJP state president Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest by police on Tuesday. The action came ahead of a BJP plan to conduct a Kunkumarchana ritual at Pedamma Temple in Banjara Hills. The temple had recently been damaged in an act of vandalism, sparking controversy.
Police reportedly acted after receiving information that Ramchander Rao intended to visit the temple. He was also scheduled to take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra in Secunderabad and Goshamahal constituencies today.

BJP state vice-president Gangidi Manohar Reddy criticised the house arrest, calling it unjustified. He accused the state administration of routinely detaining opposition leaders to obstruct their programmes.
He said it was “unfortunate” that the Congress government was continuing the practice of preventive arrests seen under the previous regime. Such actions, he argued, had no place in a democracy. Manohar Reddy warned that if such measures continued, the party would organise large-scale protests across the state.
