Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. Party leaders gathered at the state headquarters in Hyderabad to honour his legacy.
State BJP president N Ramachander Rao led the event by garlanding Vajpayee’s portrait. He recalled that Vajpayee had laid the foundation for major infrastructure schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Golden Quadrilateral highway network. These, he said, had greatly accelerated India’s development.

Despite international sanctions following the Pokhran nuclear tests, Rao said the Vajpayee-led government moved the nation forward without compromise. “His leadership helped India grow as a global power,” he added.
Rao also noted that Vajpayee’s birthday is observed as “Good Governance Day” by both the government and the party. He praised the RSS for nurturing leaders like Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing welfare schemes such as the Valmiki-Ambedkar Awas Yojana as examples of their inclusive approach.
He criticised both the current Congress government and the previous BRS administration, accusing them of failing to meet their promises. Rao urged all political leaders to follow Vajpayee’s example for the nation’s betterment.
BJP state general secretary Kasam Venkateswarlu, vice-president Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, and other senior leaders also attended the event.
