BJYM’s bid to storm Telangana assembly foiled by police

HYDERABAD: BJYM leaders attempted to storm the Telangana Assembly on Tuesday, protesting the government’s decision to auction lands belonging to Hyderabad Central University. This action led to heightened tensions in the area. The Telangana government had recently issued orders to auction these lands, a move that has been strongly opposed by university student unions and leaders from various parties. In response, BJYM leaders organized a protest march towards the Assembly, demanding the revocation of the auction decision. However, police intervened to prevent them from reaching the Assembly premises, resulting in a tense standoff. During the protest, BJP MLA Yeleti Maheshwar Reddy, who supported the BJYM’s cause, was arrested by the police. The detained BJYM leaders were subsequently taken to a local police station.
