Makthal house fire

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old blind girl was burnt alive in a house fire triggered by a short circuit in Narayanpet district’s Makthal town. The incident occurred in the Nandini Nagar locality.

Police said the child, who was also mentally challenged, was alone at home when the blaze broke out. Her parents, daily wage labourers, had stepped out for work.

Initial findings suggest the girl accidentally pulled on exposed wires near the kitchen, causing a short circuit that ignited a fire. With impaired vision and limited awareness, she was unable to escape the flames.

The charred body was shifted to the Makthal government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered.
