Hyderabad: Bogatha waterfall in Vajedu mandal surged to peak flow after heavy rainfall lashed eastern Mulugu on Tuesday night, setting off a chain of weather-related disruptions across the district.
Peruru village in Vajedu recorded 30.4 mm of rainfall, flooding streams and triggering runoff that fed the swelling falls.
Venkatapuram bore the brunt of the downpour. The Rallavagu bridge was damaged, cutting off a temporary route and halting movement on the Venkatapuram–Bhadrachalam highway. Floodwater surrounded the BC Boys Hostel in the town, forcing students to remain inside.
In Mangapet mandal, a sluice leak at the Attacheruvu tank in Malluru sent water spilling into residential areas. A house collapsed in Ramanakkapeta due to the persistent rain. Malluru village saw floodwaters enter homes after the breach.
Eturnagaram reported unrelenting rain since Tuesday night. Local streams overflowed, pushing water into low-lying fields and isolating several farmlands.
