Hyderabad: Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University has announced full tuition waivers for all transgender individuals enrolling in its undergraduate programmes across Telangana, becoming the first university in the state to do so.

Eligible applicants with 10+2 or equivalent qualifications can enrol by paying a one-time registration fee of ₹500. All tuition charges will be fully waived. The university will also supply free study materials, online resources, and access to support services at its study centres statewide.

The initiative is part of BRAOU’s long-standing “Education for All” mission, under which it has extended similar support to prison inmates and armed forces families.

University officials said the scheme is designed to improve access to higher education for marginalised groups and reduce structural barriers to learning for the transgender community.

For further assistance, applicants can contact the help desk at 040-23680333 / 040-23680555 or the call centre at 1800 5990 101. More information is available at www.braou.ac.in and www.online.braou.ac.in.
