Hyderabad: Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) will organise a two-day national seminar on “Future of Journalism in the AI Era: Opportunities and Challenges” on October 17 and 18, 2025. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani released the event brochure on Tuesday.
Prof. Chakrapani noted that artificial intelligence has led to major technological changes in the media landscape over the last decade. He said all aspects of journalism including social media, misinformation, newsroom practices, and content production are undergoing rapid transformation.
The seminar will explore broad sub-themes, including AI in film and electronic media, machine learning, AR and VR in newsrooms, cross-media storytelling, and the global future of journalism. Key topics also include AI’s role in spreading misinformation, balancing innovation with authenticity, and its impact on public relations and corporate communication.
To enrich the discussion, BRAOU plans to invite prominent professors and experts from journalism, media studies, public relations, and advertising. In addition to resource persons, research contributions will be accepted from interested academicians and institutions.
