Hyderabad: BRS state general secretary Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar on Thursday alleged a ₹1,700 crore scam in the recruitment of Group-1 posts in Telangana. Speaking at a party workers’ meeting in Shabad mandal of Chevella constituency, he accused Congress leaders of converting the recruitment process into a cash-for-jobs scheme by demanding as much as ₹3 crore from aspirants.
He said even a state minister admitted that officials were collecting ₹30 lakh from employees during transfers. “When Group-1 aspirants are asked to pay ₹3 crore each, it is nothing short of betrayal of unemployed youth,” he remarked.
BRS targets Congress over jobs, farmers and corruption
Dr. Praveen Kumar demanded the immediate resignation of Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) chairman and members, holding them responsible for the alleged irregularities. He also launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of cheating unemployed youth. “Revanth Reddy toured in a bus yatra promising jobs. After coming to power, he deceived the very youth who trusted him,” he said.
Turning to agricultural issues, the BRS leader alleged that both Congress and BJP leaders were hoarding urea stocks and selling them in the black market at ₹700 per bag, while the official price was only ₹275. He further accused the Congress government of corruption in Gurukuls by reducing cloth quality from 60 grams to 42 grams while simultaneously raising the price.
“The Congress party has turned into a party of scams,” he charged, urging people to see through what he called systematic looting in every sector.
Former minister Sabita Indra Reddy also joined the meeting, which Patnam Avinash Reddy led.
