Hyderabad, February 4: BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao reaffirmed his party’s support for SC classification in Telangana, stating that the state had passed a unanimous resolution on the issue and sent it to the central government.
Speaking in the Assembly, KTR recalled that the BRS government had consistently backed SC classification since 2001. He credited former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for leading the fight, supporting organizations like MRPS and T-MRPS, and even bringing up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
KTR highlighted that the Supreme Court had ruled on SC classification, and the state government had presented a one-member commission’s recommendations in the Assembly. He criticized attempts to portray BRS as obstructing the process and reiterated the party’s commitment to Dalit and tribal entrepreneurs, similar to industry bodies like FICCI and CII.
Quoting B.R. Ambedkar, KTR stressed that social freedom is essential for legal rights to be meaningful. He recalled that KCR had personally supported families affected by protests at Gandhi Bhavan and fought legal battles for SC classification for over a decade.
