Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday demanded a public apology from Ministers Thummala Nageswara Rao and Ponnam Prabhakar over their remarks about party candidate Maganti Sunitha, calling the statements disrespectful and offensive.
Maganti Sunitha, widow of late Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, is contesting the bypoll. The comments made against her were condemned by BRS leaders as lacking in moral and human values.
Former minister V. Srinivas Goud stated that the Ministers’ remarks revealed deep-seated arrogance and disregard for women. He questioned the criticism of Sunitha’s children campaigning on her behalf, citing similar precedents like Rajiv Gandhi’s family.
BRS demands an apology. Sunitha’s remarks were condemned as offensive to women
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, V. Srinivas Goud, Ex-MLA Vinay Bhaskar, MLC Tata Madhu, and others said the comments were symptomatic of the Congress leadership’s desperation in Jubilee Hills.
Tata Madhu noted that the personal attacks were driven by fear of defeat. He demanded that the Ministers apologise not only to Sunitha but to all women in Telangana. BRS leaders reiterated their full support for Sunitha and her family, condemning the use of inappropriate language in political discourse.
