Hyderabad: TPCC media committee chairman Sama Rammohan Reddy tore into the internal strife plaguing the BRS, dubbing it a “family circus” masquerading as a political party. He mocked the party’s acronym itself, saying it no longer stood for Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
“For KCR, it’s Baapu Rashtra Samithi. For his son K T Rama Rao, it’s Beta Rashtra Samithi. For Kavitha, it’s become Beti Rashtra Samithi. And for Harish Rao, it’s Bhatija Rashtra Samithi,” Rammohan Reddy said, ridiculing the concentration of power within KCR’s family.
He said the party’s recent platinum jubilee meeting had looked more like a public meltdown. “Harish Rao’s tone screams – ‘give me the LOP post and I’ll work hard.’” He added that Harish Rao enjoys more support among MLAs than KTR.
Rammohan Reddy claimed KCR had asked KTR to strike peace with Harish Rao just to protect the family’s image in public. “Inside, it’s chaos. Outside, they’re putting on smiles,” he said.
According to him, KTR is wary of offering the Leader of Opposition post to Harish Rao, fearing it would create a rival power centre. “KTR knows – if Harish gets the LOP post, it’ll be a political liability in future.”
Rammohan Reddy alleged that Harish Rao is well aware of how KCR has removed other leaders like Eatala Rajender and Narendra from the party. “If Harish compromises now, his political future is dead. But if he gets the LOP post, he could team up with BJP and destroy KTR’s future,” he warned.
He accused the BRS of looting districts for a decade, distributing them like family estates. “Every BRS leader is playing chess for their own survival. The party is no longer united,” he said.
The family discord, he claimed, had reached its peak. “If Harish backs off now by trusting KTR’s words, it’s game over for him. But if he rises, KTR’s career collapses.”
“No matter what, KCR will always side with his son,” he added, stating that Harish Rao had begun attacking Congress only to cover up his uncle’s failures during BRS’s 10-year rule. “He’s trying to defend the indefensible, and in the process, he’s dragging down his own party.”
