HYDERABAD: BRS leader and former minister Jagadish Reddy has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress of engaging in “match-fixing,” alleging that both parties have failed to fulfill promises made to the public. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Reddy criticized the Congress for its loan waiver promises and accused the BJP of conspiring through delimitation efforts.
Reddy claimed that during Assembly sessions, the Congress propagated blatant lies, particularly concerning loan waivers, thereby deceiving farmers. He expressed outrage over ministers allegedly lying in the Assembly, stating that such incidents are unprecedented and disgraceful. Reddy accused the Congress of making unrealistic promises and then retracting them, leaving farmers in distress. He highlighted that, according to bank records, while ₹49,000 crore was to be waived, less than ₹20 crore was actually waived, with less than 30% of the promised amount being fulfilled. He criticized the Congress for retracting on promises such as loan waivers, bonuses, and irrigation facilities, accusing them of neglecting public welfare in favor of personal gain.
Addressing the BJP, Reddy alleged that the party is conspiring through delimitation efforts, which could face opposition not only in southern India but also in the north. He warned that adhering to the central government’s plans might lead to betrayal. Reddy emphasized the importance of state unity to uphold federal principles and assured that the BRS will continue its fight to protect Telangana’s rights.
