HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs have submitted a privilege notice against Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The legislators accused the minister of providing misleading information during the ongoing assembly sessions.
According to the BRS MLAs, during a question-and-answer session, Minister Venkat Reddy claimed that under the previous BRS administration, no Central Road Fund (CRF) allocations were received, no funds were assigned for roads in the Nalgonda constituency, and an escrow account for the Uppal Elevated Corridor was not established. The MLAs refuted these statements, asserting that CRF funds were indeed received during the BRS tenure, substantial funds were allocated for roads in Nalgonda, and an escrow account for the Uppal Elevated Corridor was duly opened.
The BRS legislators provided documentary evidence supporting their claims to the Speaker. They contended that Minister Venkat Reddy’s statements were intentionally false, aimed at misleading the assembly, undermining its dignity, and violating the rights of its members. Consequently, they urged Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to take appropriate action against the minister in accordance with legislative rules.
The delegation of BRS MLAs included former ministers Harish Rao and Vemula Prashanth Reddy, as well as legislators KP Vivekanand Goud, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and Padi Kaushik Reddy.
