Hyderabad: BRS MLAs staged a sudden protest inside the Assembly premises on Monday, demanding immediate disqualification of legislators who defected from the party.
The protest took place in front of the Gandhi statue after a delegation of BRS MLAs, intending to meet Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, found him unavailable. They raised slogans calling for action against defectors and pressed for swift implementation of the Supreme Court’s ruling on such cases.
The legislators later submitted a petition at the Gandhi statue demanding the Speaker act without delay.
Tensions rose when police blocked media personnel from covering the protest, citing restrictions within the Assembly premises. A brief altercation broke out between journalists and police, leading to mild unrest near the protest site.
