HYDERABAD: BRS MLCs staged a protest in the Telangana Legislative Council premises on Wednesday, demanding the immediate implementation of election promises made by the current government. Holding placards and gold replicas, they emphasized the need to provide one tola (10 grams) of gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak schemes. The MLCs highlighted that newlywed couples have been waiting for this gold for the past 15 months. They recalled that the previous KCR government had provided financial assistance exceeding ₹1 lakh through these schemes to support the marriages of daughters from economically weaker sections. They accused Congress leaders of reneging on their pre-election promise of providing one tola gold, neglecting the welfare of poor families. They also criticized the government for failing to deposit ₹2,500 monthly into women’s accounts, as pledged. The BRS MLCs warned of statewide protests if these promises are not fulfilled promptly.
