Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) Project Implementation Unit in Warangal, along with a private individual, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 in Telangana.
According to officials, a case was registered on August 19 against the Project Director and the private person following allegations that they demanded ₹1,00,000 from a restaurant owner near Gudur Toll Plaza on the Hyderabad–Warangal Highway. The bribe was allegedly sought to ensure that the restaurant’s operations were not obstructed.

Investigators said the Project Director, through the private accused, initially demanded ₹1,00,000 but later settled for ₹60,000. He allegedly assured the complainant that no issues would be created during his five-year tenure as Project Director.
CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused red-handed on August 19 while accepting the money. The two were arrested and will be produced before the court.
Searches at three locations in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Sadashivpet led to the recovery of incriminating documents. The case remains under investigation.
