Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a disproportionate assets case against Mashetty Gopal, a former stores in-charge of Medak Ordnance Factory (ODF), accusing him of amassing illegal wealth far beyond his legitimate income.
According to officials, Gopal allegedly acquired massive assets between 2010 and 2024 while serving at ODF, a defence facility that manufactures battle tanks for the Indian Army. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) first received a complaint accusing Gopal of accepting bribes during his tenure to build up illegal wealth. Acting on the tip-off, the ACB quickly filed an FIR against him.
Given the sensitive nature of the factory’s operations, the ACB brought in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe. During the investigation, CBI officials uncovered that Gopal had amassed assets nearly 778% higher than his known legitimate income.
Searches were conducted at three locations linked to Gopal, including his residence and office premises. During the raids, investigators uncovered unaccounted assets valued at ₹2.17 crore.
The case has now been formally registered, and further investigations are underway to trace the complete trail of illegal wealth accumulated during Gopal’s tenure at the defence facility.
