Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to protecting home buyers’ rights while supporting the growth of India’s real estate sector. He was speaking at the CREDAI Hyderabad Property Show 2025 at Hitex, Madhapur.
Reddy said a home is more than a purchase it’s a personal and emotional investment. He urged developers, regulators, and the government to work together to make homeownership a reality for every citizen.
He highlighted several key steps taken by the Centre, including the rollout of the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) in 2016. This, he said, ensured more transparency and accountability in the sector. Telangana, too, established a permanent regulator and an appellate tribunal in 2024. So far, nearly 10,000 projects and 4,000 agents in the state have registered under RERA.
Moreover, he said the Centre is supporting middle-class aspirations through economic reforms and flagship schemes. Programs like PM Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Ujjwala, and Ayushman Bharat have lifted 20 crore people out of poverty. As a result, more people are entering the middle class and seeking to own homes.
He also pointed out that tax relief and lower interest rates have made housing more affordable. “With income tax exemption up to ₹12 lakh and falling EMIs, families now have more power to invest in their dream homes,” he said.
Additionally, he mentioned that the government plans to simplify the GST structure. This would further ease the financial burden on home buyers.
India has already crossed the $4 trillion economic mark. The aim, Reddy said, is to reach $35 trillion by 2047. For that, improving urban living is key. “Real estate must lead this transformation,” he said, praising CREDAI for its efforts.
