Hyderabad: Police arrested a chain snatcher within hours of the offence in Jagadgirigutta on Tuesday, recovering a 3 tola gold mangalsutra from the accused.
The incident occurred around 1:30 PM when the victim, Alwal Mounika (23), a tailor from East Sai Nagar, Alwyn Colony, was returning home for lunch from her tailoring shop in Adityanagar. As she approached Vasara High School, the accused, Mamidi Suresh of Rajanna Sircilla district, snatched her gold chain and fled.
On receiving the complaint, DCP Balanagar K. Suresh Kumar, IPS, directed ACP P. Naresh Reddy to lead the investigation. The ACP visited the scene and tasked the Jagadgirigutta Crime Team with immediate action.
Within 90 minutes, police arrested Suresh and recovered the stolen jewellery. DCP Suresh Kumar praised ACP Naresh Reddy, SHO K. Narasimha, DI Narender Reddy, and the Crime Team for their prompt and efficient work in solving the case.
