HYDERABAD: A local court has sentenced a man and his mother to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in a dowry harassment and murder case that took place in 2017 in the Chaitanyapuri area.
According to the prosecution, 28-year-old private employee Anand Kumar, a resident of NTR Nagar in Chaitanyapuri, was harassing his wife Ramya for additional dowry, with the involvement of his 48-year-old mother, Bharat Amma, a BSNL employee.
In March 2017, Anand Kumar and his mother physically assaulted Ramya, leading to her death. Based on a complaint lodged by Ramya’s parents, Chaitanyapuri Police registered a case, arrested the accused, and remanded them to judicial custody.
After a thorough investigation, police filed a charge sheet in court. Following the legal proceedings, the local court convicted both mother and son and awarded them seven years of rigorous imprisonment under charges of dowry harassment and murder.
