Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has appointed G. Chandrashekar Reddy, IFS, as the new Chief Information Commissioner of the Telangana State Information Commission. The appointment was formalised through G.O. Ms. No.106 issued by the General Administration (GPM&AR) Department on Monday.
The order, issued under the powers conferred by Section 15(3) of the Right to Information Act, 2005, stated that Reddy would assume charge immediately and serve for a term of three years or until he attains the age of 65, whichever comes earlier. The terms and conditions of his service will be governed by Section 16 of the RTI Act, as amended in 2019.
The government has instructed that the order be published in the Telangana Extraordinary Gazette and circulated widely across administrative departments. Copies have also been forwarded to all District Collectors, the Secretary of the Telangana State Information Commission, and other relevant officials.
The appointment comes at a time when the state is aiming to enhance transparency and accountability in public administration. Chandrasekhar Reddy, a senior Indian Forest Service officer, brings extensive administrative experience to the role.
The notification was issued by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on behalf of the Governor of Telangana.
