HYDERABAD, February 10: Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has condemned the recent attack on C.S. Rangarajan, the Chief Priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, expressing concern over the deteriorating conditions of temple priests in society. He stated that such violent incidents are unacceptable and called for the establishment of ‘Ramarajya’ through constitutional means. Swamy emphasised that if the public collectively desires it, the establishment of ‘Ramarajya’ would not be difficult.
Earlier, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao visited Rangarajan to inquire about the attack and demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy address the incident. Rama Rao questioned the government’s inaction, noting that Hindu dharma protectors have remained silent, and videos of the incident are circulating, yet the government has not responded.
The attack on Rangarajan occurred on February 7, when approximately 20 individuals entered his residence near the temple, assaulted him, and recorded the incident. The assailants reportedly identified themselves as descendants of the Ikshwaku clan, advocating for the establishment of ‘Ramarajya’ and attempting to recruit Rangarajan’s support. Rangarajan filed a complaint with the Moinabad police, leading to the arrest of one individual, Veera Raghava Reddy, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from various political leaders and religious organisations, calling for strict action against the perpetrators and highlighting the need to protect religious figures and institutions.
