Hyderabad: An 11-year-old schoolgirl in Chittoor district suffered a skull fracture after a teacher allegedly struck her on the head with a school bag for being mischievous in class.
The incident took place last Wednesday at a private school in Punganur but came to light days later. The girl, identified as Satvika Nagashree, is a sixth-grade student and daughter of local residents Hari and Vijetha. Her mother also works at the same school.
According to the family, the Hindi teacher hit the child forcefully with a school bag on September 10 after she allegedly misbehaved in class. Though the girl cried in pain, school staff—including her own mother—did not give the matter due attention.
Over the next three days, Satvika complained of severe headaches and refused to attend school. Her parents eventually took her to a private hospital in Bengaluru, where doctors conducted scans and diagnosed a hairline fracture in her skull. Medical staff confirmed the head trauma as the source of her persistent pain.
Although her condition is currently stable, she continues to suffer from intense headaches, her parents said.
On Monday night, the child’s mother and relatives filed a police complaint against the school management and the teacher involved.
